Stapelbädden in Gothenburg

The housing company Göteborgs Stads Bostadsbolag has commissioned this passive house, which is an apartment block with seven floors above ground and a basement that incorporates occupants' storerooms, garage, etc. The building has 49 rental apartments with 1-3 rooms and kitchen, and is located in Eriksberg in Gothenburg. The total habitable floor area is approx. 2800 m2.

The building's walls and roof have better than usual insulation, and the windows have a better U-value. The building envelope is also more airtight than is costumary.

Heating is provided by an FTX system (supply and exhaust air ventilation with heat recovery) that distributes air from the building's core towards the facades. The temperature of the apartments can be controlled individually via a temperature sensor located in each apartment. Hot water is heated mainly via district heating. Hot water will be metered and charged individually.

The passive house is part of a larger project in Västra Eriksberg in Gothenburg. In total there are 17 buildings and 389 apartments. Other buildings at Stapelbädden are constructed in accordance with the Swedish Board of Housing, Building and Planning's Building Regulations (BBR), which enables the construction client, Göteborgs Stads Bostadsaktiebolag, to make comparisons between different building methods. What does this involve technically, in terms of comfort, financially and administratively? What are the differences?

A low-energy building is also being constructed with an anticipated energy consumption of approx. 70 kWh/m2. Comparisons will also be made subsequently between this building and passive house.
