Lindås - Egnahemsbolaget AB

Lindås, to the south of Gothenburg, is the location of 20 much-publicised terraced houses. These are the first passive houses in Sweden. The planning of the terraced houses started in the 1990s, and they were completed in 2001. The houses were built by PEAB on behalf of Egnahemsbolaget AB, under the terms of a turnkey contract. SP - the Technical Research Institute of Sweden- carried out measurements and tests throughout the construction period and for 2 years in the finished buildings.

The terraced houses have a living area of 120 m2 per house. The shell of the buildings is extremely well insulated and airtight. The houses are fitted with highly-efficient ventilation heat exchangers. Each apartment has a heat exchanger with a 900 W heating cartridge which provides additional heating on cold days.
Each terraced house has a 5 m2 solar panel, which covers approximately 40% of the heating requirement for tapped hot water.
