Hamnhuset in Gothenburg, Älvstranden Utveckling AB
Hamnhuset is Sweden's largest apartment blocks built using passive house technology. The block is made up of two buildings with four to five floors, situated around an open courtyard. Hamnhuset houses 115 apartments of 1.5 to 4 rooms and kitchen, and is expected to be ready for occupation in summer 2008. The apartments are being let.
Hamnhuset has been developed by a partnership consisting of Älvstranden Utveckling AB, White Architecter, heating and sanitation-consultant Bengt Dahlgren AB and Ramböll i Sverige AB. The investment is one stage in the companies' commitments under the ByggaBo dialogue.
The public showed a great deal of interest in obtaining apartments in the Hamnhuset building, and a "Temporary Stop" on applications for Hamnhuset had to be introduced.
Solar panels cover the hot water requirement during the summer months, i.e. 135,000 kWh/year. In winter, district heating with green electricity is being used. LCC calculations estimate heating and hot water consumption at 28 kWh/sq.m., and electricity consumption at 29 kWh/sq.m. per year.
